Some what disappointed at taking a visitor to the village not only at the the food which was well presented but the content and quality were below average. Starter of tomato bruschetta consisted of two very small pieces of french bread soaked in oil with a few chopped cherry tomatoes on the top priced at 5.25 had I had I had mushroom it would have been another 1. A main course of Mixed grill priced at 14.25 consisted of a very small pic of excellent steak served with ECONOMY beef burger and two ECONOMY sausages and two slices of bacon. This was not even on a par with a transport cafe breakfast. The wine on offer was a Rose British wine ie: produced from concentrate NOT an English wine and only 8% alcohol at 14 a bottle The only white wine available was a sweet white of the same origin. Which I considered unpalatable. The red wine we had to select to accompany the meal was a South African at 14+ freely available at Iceland for three bottles for 10 ! The one member of staff for the whole establishment did how ever condescend to turn off the blaring large screen television which no one was watching. Why does one need a large screen television in an Olde Worlde Pub filling a beautiful Inglenook fireplace? Suggest A visit to a Weatherspoons for better quality and value for money
