Born on 13rd of September 1879
Died on 9th of July 1953
In contrast to most suffragettes Annie Kenney was a working class lass, employed in the weaving industry. Inspired by hearing Christabel Pankhurst speak she joined the WSPU, and it was with Pankhurst she began a new phase in the suffragette struggle, interrupting a meeting being addressed by Churchill and Sir Edward Grey, demanding their response to questions on votes for women, and getting arrested. She was arrested and imprisoned many times, enduring force feeding on hunger strikes and making the Cat and Mouse Act look ridiculous.
